Pacific Chromium Boy's Dual-Suspension Mountian Bike (20-Inch Wheels) Reviews
18 of 18 people found the following review helpful Good bike for the money, October 31, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Pacific Chromium Boy's Dual-Suspension Mountian Bike (20-Inch Wheels) (Sports) After reading concerns others had I was a bit apprehensive about buying this bike for our 7 year old son. My fears were largely unfounded, though, as the bike has been pretty much what I expected - an inexpensive dual suspension bike made in China.
The box it arrived in was damaged, but nothing was missing and nothing was bent.
Assembly was not hard (assuming a small degree of technical know-how) - probably the most intricate issue was adjusting the front and back brake shoes for positioning and even pull. All told it took about 30 minutes to unpack and assemble. Our son enjoys riding it, is getting used to his first "geared" bike, and has put the bike on the ground a few times - so far it is holding up nicely.
Given what I was looking for - a reasonably-priced bike that our son will use for a couple of years - this fits the bill.
13 of 14 people found the following review helpful Seat height not proportional to bike size, December 25, 2010 By 2uBoyz Mom (Annville, PA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Pacific Chromium Boy's Dual-Suspension Mountian Bike (20-Inch Wheels) (Sports) The overall bike quality is great, though the box in which it came was really beat up and we were concerned the bike was damaged and/or not all bike pieces were intact. This bike was a Christmas gift for my son and was purchased to replaced a smaller bike he has outgrown. When he tried to sit on it, his feet are about 6" above the ground. My older son also got a new bike which is a size bigger than this one. When we compared the seat heights of both bikes, the seat heights were the same (both seats were in the lowest position). I am VERY disappointed for my son who may have to wait to ride it b/c returning it at this point is not really a viable option.
My son who received this is 7 and above average in height for his age. I would NOT recommend purchasing this bike for some of his age. The manufacturer really needs to go back to the drawing board on the seat height design on this one!
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Bike was bought for 8 year old for Christmas, January 15, 2011 A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pacific Chromium Boy's Dual-Suspension Mountian Bike (20-Inch Wheels) (Sports) It is a very nice bike, but brakes are hard to adjust where they work well. Brake hangs up causing drag, It appears that the center pull brake assembly doesn't return all the way to the center position (leaves right or left pads slightly engauged. Also the bike weights quite a bit. To heavy to carry or lift for an 8 year old or senior adult for that matter. Good side to this bycycle is this bike won't bend/dent without tremendous force, I believe it is all steel. (Watch for rust) All in all nice bike for the young one. Great first two wheeler for boys (with out the training wheels). I would highly recommend this to a parent that wants a tough bike that can handle a very active boy. I am not sure how this bike is for a girl. It is possible that it may be to heavy for a girl to ride/handle comfortably in some cases. Has to be great for BMXing.
